Moisture is virgin coconut oil’s worst enemy for staying fresh and maintaining its light coconut aroma. Every extraction method has its own unique way of reducing moisture content. Most do it by either heating the coconut meat in a temperature-controlled oven before the oil is extracted, or heating the extracted oil to reduce moisture. Both of these methods produce oil that could be labelled as “Cold Pressed”, as long as the temperature remains below 50° C, however, heat can often give the oil a yellow tint as well as a more intense, rancid coconut smell.
Pure Naturally Organic Virgin Coconut Oil only has 0.014% moisture content, and we achieved this without introducing any heat to our process. Our oil is extracted directly from fresh coconut milk by spinning it at high speeds to separate the oil from the milk, as well as any moisture. We then filter the oil to ensure that there are absolutely no impurities before filling and sealing the bottle. No heat, no chemicals, no additives. We call this “Pure Extraction”.
